Heat Reset Troubleshooting Guide

Heat Reset Troubleshooting Guide

If your spa stops heating and there are no error messages, simply find and pull the yellow heat reset tag, check the temperature of your water and recheck in 2 hours to see if it is heating again.

Is this a random one-off, or is this a warning of further issues to come?

A heat reset may be required after a power cut or power surge – e.g. during a storm – but typically it may be indicating:

  • Flow issues resulting from filter cartridges not being cleaned regularly and not replaced with new within 6 weeks.
  • Limescale may be starting to build up on the heater. If this isn't addressed, you may experience an F1 error.

Hopefully pulling the heat reset tag gets your spa pool going again. If you haven't been putting new filter cartridges on or cleaning the filter cartridge regularly, consider doing so from now on.

If it's been some time since you conducted some preventative maintenance like flushing your control unit, or applying the white vinegar treatment, then please consider scheduling these in the short term.

And if it's been over a year since you had your control unit checked and serviced by the Portable Spas New Zealand team, then please consider sending your control unit in to us for an annual service.

We would much rather conduct preventative maintenance as and when most convenient to you, than unscheduled repairs at much greater cost to fix units once they stop working.
